Lessons of Twitter
*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
Maddy shot up in her bed, looking around her room in a haze. She flipped up the covers and dug around her bed for the source of the annoying beeping as it continued to blare throughout her room. After a minute of searching she finally discovered her phone in between her pillows and shut off the alarm. She checked the time, 7:02 am her phone read. She laid back down in her bed wanting to die having to be awake this early on a summer day. This feeling also might have been caused by having one too many to drink last night and only getting a few hours of sleep, but Maddy attempted to ignore that. She dragged herself downstairs and sluggishly made her away across the kitchen to the fridge. Opening the doors the cold air that blew out felt like heaven as she stood their searching for the Gatorade she knew she had saved. She grabbed a leftover piece of pizza as well and sat down at the table and decided to look at the tweets she posted last night, knowing they probably were not the best.
"@maddy_23 I love summer sooo much!!"
Not too bad she thought to herself as she skimmed her timeline.
"@maddy_23 rch is my bestieee. <33"
Could be worse she thought. Then her eyes reached her most recent tweet.
"@maddy_23 I jst wanttt tco bell nobdy wll tke me sdhlfh evr ths sucks."

She grimaced at the amount of spelling errors she had made, feeling slightly embarrassed but a little happy she couldn't remember tweeting that. She skimmed to the bottom and hit the delete button, hoping to erase any evidence of her state of being last night. Realizing the time Maddy attempted to run upstairs, but from the aftermath of the night before could only slowly walk. After changing and getting all her stuff together she made her way downstairs and to her car. Putting the keys into the ignition and clicking her seat belt into the buckle she paused for a second and opened up her twitter.
"@maddy_23 Well last night was fun, this morning not so much." She tweeted. Glancing at the clock and realizing it was 7:40, she flew out of her driveway and onto the street racing to get to work. She drove up the long drive way and put her car and park and jumped out so quick she thought everything she ate that morning might come back up. She opened the door that led into the kitchen with the twins and Mrs. Peterson waiting at the table.
"I almost thought you weren't going to show" remarked Mrs. Peterson. "John and Jess are almost done eating and their swim stuff is all together. Don't forget John has practice at 2 and Jess has her tutoring at 3. Call me if you need anything" she yelled rushing out the door, leaving no opportunity for questions like always.
"@maddy_23 Just want to lay on the ground and cry... #somuchtodotoday #nannylife"
"Okay guys put your bowls in the sink and grab your bags for practice were going to be late if we don't leave now." "Uhm I don't think so that's your job" replied Jess as she got up from her chair and ran out to the car, her brother John in tow copying the antics of his sister. Maddy rolled her eyes and shoved their dishes into the sink and grabbed their bags.
"@maddy_23 Who knew 8 year olds could be so sassy...."
It was lunch time at the house and like always the twins had requested Mac n Cheese. As soon as Maddy had poured the powdered cheese into the pot the kids came running into the kitchen fighting over who got the first bowl.
"Guys it doesn't matter who has the first bowl you'll both get the same amount" lectured Maddy. They ignored these words and continued to bicker, not settling until a game of rock paper scissors was played to determine the winner.
"Can I have a second bowl?" asked John. "No, you guys know the rule, only one bowl your mom said" replied Maddy. This upset John and he flew into a rage throwing his bowl into the sink sending leftover macaroni flying as he ran away crying. Maddy sighed and made her way over to the sink and began to clean up the mess of his temper tantrum.
"@maddy_23 Have I mentioned how much I hate my job???"
It was now 4 pm and the kids were restless and cranky after their practices and tutoring. In an attempt to avoid fighting Maddy put their favorite song, Call Me Maybe, on. However tensions were high and they started to fight.
"Stop touching me" yelled Jess.
"I did on accident you stupid" replied John. "I'm not stupid you are" screamed Jess as she hit him in the side. As always John retaliated and hit her back, starting a brawl in the back seat as Maddy drove down the street.

Both ceased fighting and turned their backs to each other.
"@maddy_23 Love having to pull my car over bc the kids I babysit are fighting #not"
As soon as they got home John raced to the phone and called his mom, a reoccurring problem Maddy had to deal with.
"Mom Jess hit me and it really hurt and she called me stupid" he tattled. Jess than ran over and snatched the phone from him and shoved him to the ground, causing John to erupt into a fit of crying. "He hit me too mom!" she yelled into the phone. She stood there in silence for a few seconds then threw the phone at Maddy. As usual the conversation with Mrs. Peterson went along the lines of "I don't have time for this" "They are your responsibility" "Tell them to figure it out" all responses that offered no help to the constant fighting that always broke out between the twins.
"@maddy_23 These kids are seriously crazy... cannot wait to be done babysitting them."
"Jess apologize to your brother for pushing him" scolded Maddy as John still laid on the floor, overdramatizing his injuries.
"You always take John's side it's not fair! He always gets his way! I hate you" screamed Jess. Before she stormed off she made sure to leave her mark and took the glass of milk sitting on the table and threw it on the floor.
"@maddy_23 The girl I babysit is the biggest brat in the world, seriously can't deal with this anymore. #hatemyjob"
After her long day the only thing Maddy was looking forward to was the Chinese takeout her dad ordered and watching Netflix all night. As she laid in her bed devouring her fried rice she heard the vibrate of her phone. She reached over to the side and snatched up her phone from the night stand and checked to see what caused her phone to go off. The familiar blue notification of twitter appeared in the middle of the screen and she slide the tab to the right to see who it was from.
"@jen_peterson I really don't appreciate you tweeting about my daughter..call me ASAP"
